Public Health Alert: Ongoing Measles Monitoring

The Florida Department of Health in Duval County continues to monitor a local measles outbreak following the confirmation of multiple cases earlier this season. Chief Health Officer Dr. Sunil Joshi has issued formal recommendations for healthcare providers and the general public to mitigate further spread. Healthcare personnel are urged to verify they have received the appropriate doses of the MMR vaccine. Additionally, medical facilities are advised to maintain prominent signage directing patients with fever or rash illness to request an initial evaluation before entering common waiting areas. Residents are encouraged to ensure their families are up to date on vaccinations as the county works to contain this highly contagious virus.
