Official City Roundup: Saturday, March 14, 2026

The City of Jacksonville and various municipal agencies have issued several public service announcements and advisories currently in effect for Saturday, March 14, 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following notices regarding environmental health, public works, and upcoming community meetings.

Public Health Alert: Measles Outbreak Monitoring

The Jacksonville Chief Health Officer, Dr. Sunil Joshi, continues to monitor a health alert following the confirmation of a measles outbreak in Duval County. As of this weekend, five pediatric cases have been identified, with four cases linked to a single cluster. The Florida Department of Health in Duval County is actively conducting contact tracing. Health officials strongly urge residents to verify their immunization records. Healthcare facilities are advised to display signage directing patients with rashes or febrile illnesses to remain outside for initial evaluation to prevent further community spread.

Environmental Services and Park Maintenance

  • S-Line Urban Trail Cleanup: Groundwork Jacksonville is hosting a community cleanup today, March 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers are meeting at the Emmett Reed Community Center to help preserve the S-Line trail between West 6th Street and Moncrief Road.
  • Water Shortage Restrictions: A Phase II Water Shortage declaration from the St. Johns River Water Management District remains in effect for Duval County. Due to prolonged dry conditions, residential landscape irrigation is strictly limited to one day per week until further notice.
  • Jacksonville Beach Maintenance: Beach tilling operations for annual shoreline maintenance are scheduled to begin early next week. However, public notice has been issued that the 16th Avenue South beach access will be closed starting tomorrow morning, Sunday, March 15, to allow for the staging of heavy equipment.

Infrastructure and Traffic Advisories

The City continues to advise motorists of modified traffic patterns in the downtown sports complex area due to the ongoing "Stadium of the Future" renovations at EverBank Stadium. Construction activities may result in intermittent lane closures and shifted pedestrian walkways throughout the weekend. Additionally, residents are reminded of an upcoming Citizen Information Meeting on Monday, March 16, at 3:00 p.m. regarding a proposed land use change for the 5.84-acre site located at Edgewood Avenue West and Moncrief Road.
