Virtual Public Hearing: Proposed Land Use Amendment
The Planning and Development Department will host a virtual Citizen Information Meeting today at 3:00 p.m. regarding a proposed land use change for a 5.84-acre site. The subject property is located at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue West and Moncrief Road. Under Ordinance 2026-166, the applicant seeks to amend the current land use from Residential and Medium Density Residential to Community/General Commercial and Residential-Professional-Institutional.
This virtual meeting serves as the initial phase of the public hearing process. Subsequent hearings are scheduled before the Planning Commission on April 9 and the City Council on April 14. Residents can access the Zoom meeting through the official City of Jacksonville website to provide input or ask questions regarding the impact on the local neighborhood.
Duval County Health Advisory: Measles Outbreak Response
The City of Jacksonville’s Chief Health Officer, Dr. Sunil Joshi, maintains an active health advisory following a confirmed measles outbreak in Duval County. As of the current month, five cases have been identified within the region. Health officials are emphasizing the importance of immunization and early detection.
Healthcare facilities are strongly encouraged to maintain signage at all entrances, including emergency departments and urgent care centers, advising patients with fever and rash to remain outside for an initial medical evaluation to prevent community spread. Residents are urged to review their vaccination records and monitor for symptoms such as high fever, cough, and characteristic skin rashes.
Infrastructure Update: Stadium Renovations and Traffic Impacts
The City continues to advise motorists and pedestrians of ongoing infrastructure impacts related to the "Stadium of the Future" project at EverBank Stadium. Major renovations are resulting in modified traffic patterns and limited parking capacity in the downtown sports complex and surrounding areas. Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to follow all posted detour signage as crews proceed with facility upgrades for the upcoming season.
