Overnight Detours Scheduled for I-10 and I-95/I-295 North Interchange

Jacksonville Traffic and Commute Update: Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Commuters in Jacksonville should prepare for a mix of steady morning flows and significant evening disruptions as major infrastructure projects continue across the First Coast. While the morning rush hour on Wednesday, February 25, is seeing typical volume on the main arteries, several long-term construction projects are reaching critical phases that will impact travel tonight and throughout the week.

Major Arteries: I-10 and I-95 Northside Delays

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has confirmed that the I-10 widening project between I-295 and I-95 remains active. Drivers should be aware of narrow lanes and temporary barrier walls that have shifted traffic patterns. Of particular note for evening commuters, overnight detours are scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. tonight. These closures will affect multiple interchanges within the project limits as crews perform bridge work and traffic shifts. Drivers heading westbound should expect detours at the McDuff Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard ramps.

On the Northside, the I-95 and I-295 North Interchange improvements project is also in a high-activity phase. FDOT recently announced that the completion of this $176.8 million modernization project has been pushed to later this spring. Consequently, overnight detours are in place from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. through Thursday. Commuters traveling toward the Jacksonville International Airport late this evening should allow for an additional 15 to 20 minutes to navigate the required detours at the interchange.

Local Roadwork and Jacksonville Beach Alerts

Local commuters in Jacksonville Beach should plan for a specific daytime disruption today. Work on the 1st Street North water main replacement is scheduled at the intersection of 16th Avenue North from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Motorists in the area should expect flaggers and minor delays during these mid-day hours.

Additionally, median modifications and resurfacing work continue on both Atlantic Boulevard and Beach Boulevard. Nighttime lane closures are expected to resume after 8:00 p.m. at key intersections, including Leon Road and Foster Drive. These modifications aim to improve safety by reducing left-turn conflict points, but they will require caution from late-night drivers.

Public Transportation: JTA Fares and Public Meetings

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) continues its Fare Modification Pilot Program, which remains in effect today. Passengers can take advantage of the reduced $1.00 fare for fixed-route bus services. Furthermore, JTA is hosting two critical public meetings today regarding the Skyway Rehabilitation Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. The first session will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center, with a second session at 5:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Marriott Downtown. Transit users and downtown commuters are encouraged to attend to learn about future updates to the Skyway system.
