A road win in Florence resets North Florida’s conference momentum

The University of North Florida snapped a 10-game losing streak on Jan. 15, 2026, defeating North Alabama 105-91 in Florence, Alabama, in an Atlantic Sun Conference matchup. The result improved the Ospreys to 3-15 overall and 1-4 in league play, while North Alabama fell to 6-10 and 1-4.

North Florida’s offensive output was driven by guard Kent Jackson, who scored 35 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 8-of-13 from three-point range, and a perfect 7-of-7 at the free-throw line. Jackson added six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 35 minutes.

North Florida reached 105 points and led at halftime 48-36 before outscoring North Alabama 57-55 after the break.

Three-point shooting and ball movement fueled the 105-point night

North Florida placed multiple players in double figures, with Kamrin Oriol scoring 21 points while adding eight assists in 40 minutes. Nestor Dyachok posted 12 points and six rebounds, and Dalton Gayman added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. BJ Plummer contributed 13 points.

The Ospreys’ perimeter shooting shaped the game’s scoring profile. Jackson’s eight made threes and Oriol’s five provided a consistent source of points in a contest where North Florida maintained a double-digit lead for extended stretches. The team’s assist totals were also notable among the main contributors, reflecting possession-to-possession creation rather than reliance on a single scoring method.

North Alabama’s frontcourt production kept pressure on the margin

North Alabama was led by Corneilous Williams, who recorded 28 points and 14 rebounds. Canin Jefferson scored 21 points and Kevin de Kovachich added 19, giving the Lions three high-volume scorers. Despite that production, North Alabama was unable to close the gap after the early deficit, with North Florida matching the Lions’ second-half scoring while protecting its first-half advantage.

Jackson’s Jacksonville ties add local relevance to a conference result

Jackson, a Jacksonville native, joined North Florida for the 2025-26 season as a transfer after beginning his college career at Jacksonville University. His 35-point performance marked a significant individual scoring peak early in his tenure with the Ospreys and directly coincided with the program’s first win after a prolonged skid.

  • Final score: North Florida 105, North Alabama 91
  • Date: Jan. 15, 2026
  • Top scorer: Kent Jackson (35 points; eight made threes)
  • Records after the game: UNF 3-15 (1-4 ASUN); UNA 6-10 (1-4 ASUN)

The win gives North Florida a conference road result to build on as the schedule continues, with the standings still compressed early in league play.
