I-10 Widening and Lane Avenue Disruptions

Commuters in West Jacksonville should prepare for significant nighttime disruptions as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues its multi-year widening project on I-10 from I-295 to I-95. For tonight, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, crews are focusing on the Lane Avenue interchange. Drivers should be aware of the following closures and detours scheduled between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

  • Lane Avenue on-ramp to I-10 East: This ramp will be closed starting tonight. Southbound drivers on Lane Avenue will be detoured to Normandy Boulevard, then Lenox Avenue, and finally Cassat Avenue to access the interstate.
  • I-10 West off-ramp to Lane Avenue: This ramp remains closed through Thursday morning. Drivers are advised to utilize I-295 North and exit at Commonwealth Avenue to double back to Lane Avenue.
  • Lane Avenue on-ramp to I-10 West: Closures at this location are wrapping up early Wednesday morning, but intermittent shifts may occur. Northbound drivers should use Highway Avenue and Cassat Avenue as alternatives.

JTA Service Alerts and Fare Pilot Program

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has issued several updates for transit users today. Most notably, the Skyway remains out of service and is currently operating on a "Bus Bridge." Shuttle buses are stationed at each Skyway stop to transport passengers between downtown stations until further notice. Additionally, several bus routes are operating on detours:

  • Route 8: Continues to experience delays due to the ongoing closure of the Art Museum Drive Bridge.
  • Route 12: Drivers are navigating a detour around Myrtle Avenue and Kings Road due to JEA infrastructure work, which is expected to last through late March.

Commuters are reminded that the six-month fare pilot program is currently active. Fixed-route bus fares have been reduced to $1, and the NAVI autonomous shuttles along Bay Street are operating free of charge to encourage ridership during these construction phases.

Regional Roadworks and Morning Commute

Beyond the interstates, regional projects in the surrounding counties are impacting local flow. In Clay County, the Phase 2 reconstruction of County Road 220 and the bridge over Little Black Creek continues to cause daytime shifts. In Middleburg, sidewalk installation on Choctaw Trail is nearing completion, but drivers may still encounter single-lane closures throughout the day. For those heading toward St. Johns County, the First Coast Expressway Phase 3 project is now in active construction. While lane closures on I-95 are restricted between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., expect increased truck traffic near the CR 2209 interchange as crews prepare the new toll facility site.
