Crash occurred near Pebble Brook Apartments; investigation remains active

Jacksonville police have identified the motorcyclist who died after a collision on Loop 456 late last week as Bradley Gene McGuire, 50, of Jacksonville. The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon and involved McGuire’s motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle, authorities said.

Police said the collision happened at about 4:24 p.m. on Loop 456 as a black SUV was exiting the Pebble Brook Apartments area. Preliminary information released by investigators indicates the motorcycle collided with the SUV as it traveled southbound on the loop. The impact ejected the motorcyclist from the bike, and he suffered severe injuries.

Emergency responders arranged for McGuire to be transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Tyler. Police said he later died from his injuries.

Driver remained at the scene; no charges announced

Authorities said the SUV driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated with investigators. As of the most recent police update, no charges had been filed.

Police have not released additional details about contributing factors, including whether impairment, speed, distraction, or visibility issues played a role. The agency described the information available so far as preliminary, indicating that the final determination of how the crash occurred will depend on the continuing investigation.

What investigators typically document in fatal motorcycle crashes

While police have not detailed what evidence has been collected in this case, fatal-crash investigations commonly include documentation of vehicle positions, debris fields and impact points, roadway design and signage, skid or yaw marks, lighting conditions, and any available video. Investigators may also interview drivers, passengers, and independent witnesses, and review medical and mechanical findings when relevant.
