Jacksonville Official Notices: Emergency Warming Center Extensions and Urgent Health Advisories

Emergency Warming Center Activation Extended
Due to the arrival of a significant cold front, the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division has extended the activation of its Warming Center Contingency Plan. Temperatures are forecast to remain dangerously low through the morning of Sunday, February 1, 2026, with wind chills expected in the 20s. To ensure the safety of all residents, the Legends Center at 5130 Soutel Drive will remain open as a warming center through Monday, February 2.
On Sunday, February 1, the Legends Center will remain open until 12:00 p.m. to provide a safe environment for those without adequate heat. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is currently providing free transport to the center from bus stops across Duval County. Residents are reminded to follow the "5 P’s of Cold-Weather Safety": check on People, protect Pets, cover Plants, insulate Pipes, and practice Fire safety when using supplemental heating sources.
Urgent: Pop-Up Immunization Clinic at Regency Library
Following the confirmation of multiple measles cases in Duval and St. Johns counties, the Florida Department of Health in Duval County (DOH-Duval) has issued a public health advisory. To combat the spread of this highly contagious virus, a special "Pop-Up" Immunization Clinic will be held today, Sunday, February 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Regency Library, located at 9300 Regency Square Boulevard.
Vaccines available at no cost include MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella), influenza, and hepatitis A. Health officials urge residents who are unvaccinated or unsure of their immunization status to visit the clinic. Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, and a signature red rash; individuals experiencing these symptoms should contact their healthcare provider before visiting a facility to prevent further exposure.
