Jacksonville Official Notice: Major Traffic Impacts and Public Health Advisories

Traffic Advisory: Gate River Run Road Closures
The City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office have issued a major traffic advisory for Saturday, March 7, 2026, to accommodate the 48th annual Gate River Run. With more than 20,000 runners participating, residents should expect significant road and bridge closures across Downtown, San Marco, and the Southbank. Most closures will remain in effect from early morning until approximately 11:30 a.m.
- Main Street Bridge: Closed to all vehicle traffic from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Hart Bridge: Southeast-bound lanes from Duval Street to Atlantic Boulevard will be closed from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Downtown Area: Bay Street is closed east of the Main Street Bridge. Additional closures include Duval Street (from the Fairgrounds to Main Street) and A. Philip Randolph Boulevard from 7:15 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
- San Marco & Southbank: Riverplace Boulevard, Prudential Drive, and San Marco Boulevard will face rolling closures beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Due to ongoing construction at EverBank Stadium, the race start and finish lines have been relocated to the Jacksonville Shipyards. No parking is permitted at the Shipyards; however, the River Taxi is providing shuttle service from the DoubleTree Hotel Dock on the Southbank from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to assist attendees.
Public Service Announcement: 5th Annual 7 Creeks Fest
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is hosting the 5th Annual 7 Creeks Fest today, March 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This city-partnered event takes place at the 7 Creeks Recreation Area in North Jacksonville. A free public shuttle is operating between the central hub and various trailheads to facilitate access to guided hikes, kayaking, and nature workshops while protecting the sensitive wilderness environment. Residents are encouraged to visit the central hub for live music and local food truck services throughout the afternoon.
Public Health Alert: Measles and Rabies Advisories
The Florida Department of Health in Duval County maintains an active health alert following recently confirmed measles cases in the area. Health officials urge residents to verify their immunization status and watch for symptoms including high fever and a red, blotchy rash. Additionally, a rabies alert remains active for the Town Center and University of North Florida (UNF) vicinity. Public service staff advise residents to avoid contact with wildlife and to ensure all domestic pets are current on their rabies vaccinations. Any contact with stray or wild animals should be reported to the city's animal control division immediately.

While no formal legislative sessions are scheduled for today, the following official notices are active for the upcoming week:
- March 9: The Public Service Grant Council will meet at 2:00 p.m. at the Ed Ball Building for its regular monthly meeting.
- March 10: The City Council will hold its regular meeting at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall. Public meetings regarding Council Leadership for the 2026-2027 term will take place earlier that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
