Jacksonville liquor store dispute escalates into two-location gunfight, leaving two injured and a gunman detained

Two people hospitalized after Atlantic Boulevard shooting
A late-night dispute at a Jacksonville liquor store escalated into a multi-stage shooting that left two people injured and triggered a second gunfire incident at a nearby residence, authorities said.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that officers were called around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, to MBC Liquors on Atlantic Boulevard near South Arlington Road. Investigators said a 23-year-old customer and a store clerk argued during a purchase, and the confrontation turned physical inside the store, involving the customer, the clerk and the business owner.
After the initial fight ended, the customer left and then returned, investigators said. During the return, the customer produced a firearm and shot the clerk. The store owner then fired a weapon, striking the customer multiple times.
Suspect drove to nearby home; volunteer officer was fired upon
Investigators said the wounded customer drove to a home on Rigel Road, where a separate incident unfolded outside the residence. A sheriff’s auxiliary officer who lived nearby heard the commotion and approached the scene, then went to retrieve medical gloves to provide assistance. When the auxiliary officer returned, a female relative of the wounded customer was also present and aiding him, authorities said.
At that point, a man exited the residence and fired a single round in the direction of the auxiliary officer and the family member, investigators said. Neither was struck. Responding officers detained the shooter.
Authorities said they believed they had identified everyone involved and were interviewing participants and witnesses.
Injuries reported as stable; investigation ongoing
The liquor store clerk and the wounded customer were transported to a hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. Authorities did not report life-threatening injuries in the immediate aftermath.
Officials indicated the investigation remained active and that charges, if any, would depend on further interviews, evidence review and case assessments. Authorities also sought additional public information tied to the incidents.
