Jacksonville, Illinois Police Arrest 23-Year-Old After Valentine’s Day Shooting That Left One Woman Dead

Arrest follows fatal shooting on West Chambers Avenue
A 23-year-old Jacksonville, Illinois, woman has been arrested and charged after a Valentine’s Day shooting that killed a 31-year-old woman, authorities said.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of West Chambers Avenue shortly after 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. Officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound and initiated emergency medical response. The woman was transported to a hospital, where she later died.
The Morgan County Coroner identified the victim as Marcquila Harris, 31, of Jacksonville. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.
Charges filed as multi-agency investigation continues
Investigators worked overnight following the shooting, and on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, police arrested Marissa Teubner, 23, also of Jacksonville. She was booked on charges of first-degree homicide and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Officials also have not announced whether a firearm was recovered, or whether additional charges could follow.
