Arrest follows investigation into Jan. 16 theft at Northside Target

A Jacksonville physician has been arrested and charged with felony grand theft after investigators alleged more than $2,700 in merchandise was taken from a Target store on River City Drive earlier this month.

Lindsey Jae Minshew, 40, was taken into custody on Friday after being identified as the suspect in a theft reported on January 16, 2026. Police allege the value of the unpaid items totaled $2,716.61. The River City Drive location is on Jacksonville’s Northside, near Jacksonville International Airport.

What investigators say happened

Investigators said Minshew arrived at the store in a black Porsche roughly 30 minutes before entering the building on the day of the alleged theft. The case moved forward after officers used vehicle and license plate records that placed the Porsche near the store around the time of the incident.

Investigators also cited the status of the Porsche, which was reported stolen days after the alleged theft, as part of the investigative timeline used to locate the vehicle and connect records to the suspect.

  • Alleged theft date: January 16, 2026

  • Reported value of merchandise: $2,716.61

  • Location: Target, River City Drive, Jacksonville

  • Arrest: Friday; booked into the Jacksonville jail Friday evening

  • Charge: Felony grand theft

Professional status and what comes next

State licensing records list Minshew as a Florida-licensed medical doctor who has been licensed since 2012, with an active license status and an expiration date of January 31, 2027. Licensing records also indicate Medicaid participation and list hospital staff privileges in Miami.

The arrest is a criminal allegation. A felony grand theft charge initiates a court process that typically includes an initial appearance, a determination of release conditions, and later hearings where prosecutors must prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Defense counsel may challenge identification, intent, valuation of merchandise, and the investigative steps used to connect a suspect to the reported theft.

Minshew is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

No additional details about the specific items taken or any restitution claims were included in the initial arrest information. The case is expected to proceed through the Duval County court system.
