Global Flavors and Artistic Spotlights: World of Nations and Local Markets Lead This Saturday
Global Flavors at the 34th Annual World of Nations Celebration
Jacksonville’s premier multicultural festival, the World of Nations Celebration, returns today to the Ford on Bay site (288 E. Bay Street). Open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., this event allows visitors to explore the heritage of 29 different countries, including Argentina, India, Spain, and Venezuela. Each nation’s tent offers authentic cuisine, traditional music, and handmade artistry. A highlight of this Saturday’s schedule is the Naturalization Ceremony, a moving tribute to the city's newest citizens. Children can also participate in the 'World of Kids Playland' or collect stickers for their exploration boards at each international station.
Creative Community at Riverside Arts Market
The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) continues its weekly tradition under the Fuller Warren Bridge from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Today’s market features a special Black Artists Spotlight focused on the works of Tyree Guyton and Bette Saar, including an inspiration project involving discarded and found objects. The River Stage will host a full lineup of live entertainment starting at 10:30 a.m. with The Flashbacks, followed by Lauren Fincham at noon, and a performance by the UNF Jazz Ensemble II at 1:30 p.m. Visitors can browse fresh produce from local farmers and unique wares from dozens of regional makers.
Contemporary Art and Free Admission at MOCA
For those seeking indoor cultural experiences, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville is hosting VyStar Free Saturday, offering complimentary admission to all visitors. Today marks the opening of a brand-new exhibition, Jiha Moon: Half Moon, which explores the intersection of global culture and contemporary identity. Additionally, at 1:00 p.m., the museum will host a 'Watercolor Flow' workshop led by local artist Teresa Cook, designed for participants of all skill levels to practice mindful painting techniques.
