Wednesday Morning Traffic Overview

Jacksonville commuters are facing a mix of planned daytime lane closures and significant nighttime detours this Wednesday, March 18, 2026. While the early morning rush hour across the St. Johns River bridges has remained relatively fluid, major multi-year infrastructure projects continue to cause bottlenecks on the Westside and Northside. Traffic officials are urging drivers to plan for extra travel time, particularly on I-95 and secondary arteries like 103rd Street.

Major Artery Alerts: I-10 and I-95

  • I-10 Widening Project: Work continues on the $174.5 million project to expand I-10 between I-295 and I-95. For tonight, Wednesday, drivers should prepare for nighttime ramp closures at Cassat Avenue from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Additionally, lane closures are scheduled between Hammond Boulevard and Stockton Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for road surfacing.
  • I-95 Northside Congestion: A significant portion of I-95 from Max Leggett Parkway to Busch Drive is under active construction. Commuters should expect daytime lane closures today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by further nighttime restrictions beginning at 10 p.m.
  • MLK Jr. Parkway: The southbound off-ramp from I-95 at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will close tonight at 10 p.m. for bridge and road maintenance.

JTA Public Transport and Skyway Disruptions

Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) passengers should be aware of ongoing service modifications in the Downtown core. The Skyway Southbank Line remains out of service for trains due to a maintenance issue; a dedicated bus bridge is operating between Kings Avenue and Rosa Parks Station to ferry passengers across the river. Furthermore, Route 12 is currently on detour near Myrtle Avenue and Kings Road due to JEA construction, and Route 8 continues to divert around the Art Museum Drive Bridge closure.

Local Roadworks and Emerald Trail Construction

  • 103rd Street (SR 134): Daytime lane closures are in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Old Middleburg Road and Piper Glen Road. Crews are performing drainage and signal upgrades that may cause intermittent stops.
  • McCormick Road (SR 116): Expect eastbound and westbound daytime lane closures today near Sand Castle Lane for routine utility and road work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Downtown Hogan Street: As part of the Emerald Trail Hogan Street Link construction, traffic is currently restricted to a single northbound lane. Commuters heading toward the Northbank should consider using Ashley Street or Jefferson Street as alternatives to avoid delays near the heart of the city.
