Downtown Art Walk and Library Docent Tours

Today marks the return of the First Wednesday Art Walk in Downtown Jacksonville. This monthly staple transforms the urban core into a vibrant gallery, featuring local creators, live music, and interactive installments. A highlight of today’s programming is the specialized art tours hosted at the Jacksonville Public Library Main Branch. Docents will lead 20-minute tours at 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., showcasing the library’s permanent collection. Visitors can discover significant works by artists such as Augusta Savage, Al Held, and Jerry Uelsmann while exploring the historic building.

Midweek Farmers Markets

For those looking for fresh local produce and artisanal goods, Jacksonville offers two distinct market experiences today:

  • Murray Hill Farmers Market: Located at Fishweir Brewing Company, this evening market runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It is a community favorite for sourdough breads, authentic pasta sauces, and handmade crafts, all within a social brewery atmosphere.
  • Jacksonville Farmers Market: As Florida's oldest operating farmers market, this West Beaver Street landmark is open daily. On Wednesdays, it operates from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering a massive selection of seasonal produce, Mayport shrimp, and specialty ethnic foods at wholesale and retail prices.

Current Exhibitions at MOCA Jacksonville

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville is open today with several compelling exhibitions. Visitors can view the "Project Atrium: Muralists in Action" installation, which is nearing the final days of its run. Also on display is "Sebastian Vallejo: Where the Zephyrs Sleep," an exploration of abstract color and movement, alongside the photography exhibition "Moments in Time," which features works by iconic photographers like Robert Mapplethorpe and Edward Weston.

Community and Music

In the realm of live music, Vincent Neil Emerson and William Price are scheduled to perform tonight at 7:00 p.m., bringing a night of Americana and storytelling to the local stage. Additionally, the Public Service Grant Council MVP Committee will hold a public session from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at City Hall, providing an opportunity for residents to engage with local civic processes regarding community service grants.
